Programs of Special Interest
Multicultural Stories Network for grades K-12
All Day Story Residency
A one-day residency consists of three to five 45 minute performances at one
school. I shares stories and some of my collection of hand held musical instruments
from around the world. I bring to your students an interactive program which
promotes positive values, an appreciation for world literature and cultures,
and provides tips on creative self-expression.
For Educators
"Storytelling for the Teacher's Soul" (Keynote, Master Class or Workshop)
delves into the uses of storytelling for the classroom. Through storytelling
techniques, teachers will discover ways to inspire students to listen, to read,
to respect themselves and others. Don't worry! The teacher doesn't have to become
a professional storyteller to enter into the art of STORY.
For Students
"Storytelling for Kids/Kids as Storytellers" (five day residency)
Exploring the use of words is vital. Many educators are realizing that narrative
and oral language is an important part of literacy development. This residency
helps students understand the techniques of good storytelling. Students will
learn to find stories through research and interviews. They will explore stories
from their families, neighborhoods, traditional sources, and write and prepare
stories for telling.
Coaching in Storytelling & Acting
For groups or individuals - Designed to enrich the presence of the performing
artist. "If the performer's inner life is rich, that is sufficient,"
explains Stanislavsky, "then he would need neither make-up, costumes, nor
sets."
Hands-on training.
In Search Of Story Workshop
We are all by nature storytellers. The need to share stories is vital. Spark
your creativity and self expression. Ignite the imagination. Let the spirit
soar. Reclaim hidden memories. Discover the world of stories around you and
the storyteller within you. Very useful for anyone wanting to use story in their
personal and professional journeys.
Vedic Storytelling Institute
Probe the classic, Vedic epics of Bhagavatam, Mahabharata, Ramayana and the
fables of the Panchatantra. These stories have endured for millennia because
they speak to us of ancient memories, visions of the future, and reflect the
longings of the human spirit. The stories have been, and still are, important
sources of inspiration for dance, drama, puppetry, poetry and music in much
of Asia. But more so, these epics, considered by scholars as the "fifth
Veda," are a vital part of the sacred culture and heritage of all mankind.
